Living with Covid-19

Pandemic

The year is 2020.  The world is being affected by a pandemic – Covid-19. It is scary. Many have died. There is no cure and scientists are still trying to find out how the virus was first transmitted. Governments are trying to manage the chaotic unfolding of the effects Covid-19 has unleashed on the population. There’s been job losses in all sectors. There’s a scarcity of many basic items needed for survival. Doctors are overwhelmed.  ‘Essential workers’ are being overworked and under paid. Depression is at an all time high and many millennials are now stead-fast in their decision to not bring life into this unpredictable world. This is not a dream. This is the year 2020.

How to Help

You can help to make this time less difficult for your neighbours. You already know who the ‘Have-Nots’ in your communities are. Help them. Pay a bill, offer some hard cash and drop off some groceries if you are able to afford it. Life is a strange place. We will eventually need a helping hand. Watch the news. Force yourself to have empathy for the needy. Check in on your friends. They need you. The strong friends too. Visit your extended family if you can and share a meal with them. Give them an update of your life. Make them feel included. Relationships are important for your own well-being during these uncertain time. Take a chance and help someone.

Don’t Forget You

Protect your mental health. End that phone conversation that has you shouting. Say no to an invitation that will have sadness and anger accompanying you home. It’s not worth it. Read a book – you have the time. Cook your favourite meal and share it with someone you love. Enjoy your hobbies and tap into your spiritual being.  Rid yourself of bad memories and give yourself permission to cry. Life has many turns and you are absolutely deserving of moving forward with happiness and success.

Be kind to yourself. This too shall pass.
